Job summary

New London Public Schools is hiring for a High School Reading/Reading teacher at New London High School Multi Magnet Campus in New London, CT. The position reports to the Principal and is a full-time, 10-month role to advance student literacy from day one.

The ideal candidate holds a valid CT CSDE educator certificate with an endorsement area 102 or applicable. Bilingual Spanish or Haitian Creole is highly desirable. A comprehensive benefits package is available to eligible employees.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) educator certificate with an endorsement in one or more of the following endorsement areas: 102 or applicable.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Haitian Creole highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted, evidence-based reading instruction to improve students' literacy skills, including fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and written language.
  • Assess student progress, analyze literacy data, and differentiate instruction to meet individual learning needs and accelerate achievement.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to support student progress and implement effective literacy interventions.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement, confidence, and success while maintaining accurate records and communicating student progress.

Position Overview

Provides instruction and is responsible for student learning for students during a particular time period in developmental reading and language arts education

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide targeted, evidence-based reading instruction to improve students' literacy skills, including fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and written language.
  • Assess student progress, analyze literacy data, and differentiate instruction to meet individual learning needs and accelerate achievement.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to support student progress and implement effective literacy interventions.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement, confidence, and success while maintaining accurate records and communicating student progress.
