Job summary

Rocketship Public Schools in Redwood City is seeking a friendly cafeteria aide to support daily meal service for students and staff. The role focuses on setup, service, cash handling, recordkeeping, and safety in a dynamic school cafeteria.

You will supervise students during recess, enforce site rules, collaborate with teachers and families, and participate in staff trainings to ensure compliant and smooth operation of meals and related activities.

Qualifications

• Experience managing and/or teaching groups of elementary-age students (strongly preferred).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to learn laws, rules, practices and procedures related to public education and Rocketship Public Schools.

Responsibilities

• Set up and clean up for all food items, supplies, equipment, and serving areas.
• Collect payments for meals as needed (e.g., cash).
• Maintain cafeteria records and reports to meet guidelines.
• Respond to inquiries from students and parents about meals.
• Supervise and monitor students during recess.
• Enforce site rules and safety regulations in Rocketship classroom culture.
• Report unsafe conditions to administrators immediately.
• Ensure safe arrival/dismissal for students before and after school.
• Apply disciplinary procedures per site plan.
• Attend staff meetings and training as needed.
