Job summary

Shelby County Schools is seeking a cafeteria support worker to assist the School Nutrition Supervisor in preparing and serving nutritious meals for students and staff in a clean, sanitary environment. You will follow menus, read recipes, assemble ingredients, and help with bag lunches and snacks for programs.

The role involves monitoring cooking times for safety, maintaining sanitation, setting up serving lines, and possibly operating a POS terminal.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Background check required and TB test must be negative.
• Minimum of 6 months of quantity food preparation or related experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals for students and staff.
• Monitor and document cooking times and temperatures for safety.
• Set up serving lines and maintain cleanliness of serving areas.
• Stock supplies and assist with inventory; rotate food items as scheduled.
• May operate a point-of-sale terminal and handle cashier duties as needed.
