Job summary

Shelby County Schools in Memphis seeks a dedicated cafeteria worker to assist in preparing and serving nutritious meals for students and staff, while maintaining a clean, sanitary kitchen and pleasant dining area. You will follow recipes and menus, monitor cooking times, set up serving lines, assist with inventory, and may operate a POS terminal, while upholding HACCP safety and sanitation standards.

High school diploma or GED is required.
Must pass a background check and test negative on a TB skin test.
Minimum of six (6) months of quantity food preparation or related experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve meals for students and staff according to menu and recipes.
Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure food safety per HACCP regulations.
Set up serving lines and maintain cleanliness of serving area; ensure utensils are available.
Maintain cleanliness of equipment and storage areas; handle and store utensils safely.
Assist in stocking supplies and monitoring inventory; rotate food products.
May serve as cashier, operating a point-of-sale terminal.
Perform duties in compliance with school, district, and health department policies.
Prepare work records and enter/retrieve data as needed.
Attend training and meetings to enhance knowledge and skills.
