• Strong cash handling skills.
• Thorough knowledge of cafeteria operations, equipment, and practices.
• Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local health regulations, USDA requirements, and proper food handling in a cafeteria environment.
• Proficient at reading and following recipe directions.
• Communicates courteously and effectively with cafeteria personnel, students, and the school community.
• Familiarity with software/word processing skills to operate cafeteria POS system and complete other reports as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and supervises the serving of a complete general and a la carte menu of breakfasts and lunches.
• Forecasts the types and quantities of food supplies needed.
• Ensures proper leftover use and documentation; monitors batch cooking to control waste.
• Directs and supervises staff in preparation, following meal standards: presentation, recipes, preparation, and service methods.
• Purchases and supervises the receipt and storage of all food and supplies.
• Assists in hiring cafeteria staff.
• Maintains daily production records reflecting menus, food produced and served.
• Trains new food service workers in health codes and practices.
• Oversees preparation, cooking, and serving of food; assigns responsibilities.
• Administers performance evaluations of cafeteria staff.
