Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking a skilled cook or baker to prepare high quality, nutritious meals following standardized procedures and menus. Under the direction of the Kitchen Manager, you may lead staff in meal preparation, serving, and cleanup, maintaining records and inventory as required.

You will ensure meals are served on time, promote nutrition, and assist in supervising unit staff to meet emergencies or busy periods.

Qualifications

• Meet minimum qualifications for Assistant and Satellite Servers.
• One year (1) experience in commercial or institutional food preparation
• Ability to utilize fundamentals of meal preparation.
• Skills to plan menus and adjust recipes.
• Competency to complete and maintain all records as requested and substitute as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve high quality, nutritious meals according to standardized procedures and menus.
• May direct or assist unit staff in meal preparation, serving and cleanup to meet emergencies or busy periods.
• Maintain required daily records and reports; collect money and account for meals served.
• Promote Culinary Services programs to increase meal participation and assist staff in promoting proper nutrition.
