Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Southern Territory is seeking a Kitchen Assistant in Midland, TX to prepare and serve nutritious meals while keeping the kitchen clean and orderly. You will help with inventory, equipment, and dining area setup for each meal service.

Responsibilities include food prep, sanitation, and assisting with cooking as needed. Must have HS diploma or GED preferred, with 1 year kitchen experience and a Food Handler's Certification or ability to obtain within the timeframe.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of proper food handling methods and procedures.
• Knowledge of effective cleaning and sanitizing practices including proper safety precautions.
• Knowledge of acceptable food storage and cleaning techniques.
• Ability to properly clean kitchen appliances and utensils.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Cleans tables, chairs, floors, dishes, utensils and kitchen appliances.
• Maintains a high degree of cleanliness in the kitchen and dining room; ensures meals are prepared safely.
• Stores, refrigerates and freezes foods properly; monitors expiration dates.
• Opens kitchen area; sets up cereal, cups, condiments; prepares and stocks supplies.
• Preps, cleans, and prepares a variety of foods and beverages.
• Serves food and beverages in a presentable manner; sets up buffet or tables.
