Job summary

IDEA Public Schools is seeking a Food Service Specialist to support daily food preparation, service, and safety for students. You will assist with stock, equipment operation, and maintaining clean kitchen spaces on a full‑time on‑site basis.

The role emphasizes customer service, adherence to recipes, and supervision by the Cafeteria Manager, with opportunities for growth and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 1+ years work experience in a role with physical activity.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with a partner and move items as needed.
• Ability to obtain locally-recognized manager food safety certification.
• Experience serving students or large groups recommended.

Responsibilities

• Assist in food preparation, safety, and quality assurance for students.
• Provide customer service and interact with staff, students and families daily.
• Operate cafeteria equipment and maintain spaces; report malfunctions.
• Assist in cleaning duties: sweeping, mopping, wiping tables, washing dishes.
• Load and unload weekly food and non-food products.
• Follow recipes and campus meal schedules for meals.
