Job summary

Excelsior Prep Charter School of Miami Gardens in Miami Gardens, FL is seeking a Cafeteria Assistant to support daily meal service. You will assist with food prep, serve meals, maintain cleanliness, and ensure a safe cafeteria operation in line with food safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic food preparation, portioning, packaging, and serving meals.
• Set up and replenish serving lines, utensils, condiments, and meal items.
• Serve students and staff in a courteous, efficient, and professional manner.
• Follow established sanitation, safety, and food handling procedures.
• Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, serving stations, tables, trays, kitchen tools, and cafeteria equipment.
• Wash dishes, utensils, pans, and other food service items.
• Assist with receiving, storing, rotating, and organizing food and supply deliveries.
• Monitor food temperatures and report concerns to the Cafeteria Manager or supervisor.
• Help maintain orderly meal periods and a clean cafeteria environment.
• Support meal counting, simple recordkeeping, and end-of-day cleanup procedures.
• Work cooperatively with cafeteria staff, school staff, and administrators.
• Perform other duties as assigned by school leadership.

Salary Range: $15.00 To $16.00 Annually

The Cafeteria Assistant supports the daily meal service program at Excelsior Prep Charter Schools by assisting with food preparation, serving meals, maintaining cleanliness, and helping ensure a safe and efficient cafeteria operation. This position contributes to a positive dining experience for students and staff by following food safety practices, supporting team operations, and providing courteous service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Qualifications

Previous cafeteria or food service experience preferred but not required.
