Responsibilities

• Assist with basic food preparation, portioning, packaging, and serving meals and snacks.
• Set up and replenish serving lines, utensils, condiments, and meal items as needed.
• Serve students and staff in a courteous, efficient, and professional manner.
• Follow established sanitation, safety, and food handling procedures at all times.
• Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, serving stations, tables, trays, kitchen tools, and cafeteria equipment.
• Wash dishes, utensils, pans, and other food service items according to established procedures.
• Assist with receiving, storing, rotating, and organizing food and supply deliveries.
• Monitor food temperatures and report concerns to the Cafeteria Manager or supervisor.
• Help maintain orderly meal periods and a clean cafeteria environment.
• Support meal counting, simple recordkeeping, and end-of-day cleanup procedures as directed.
• Work cooperatively with cafeteria staff, school staff, and administrators.

Salary Range: $15.00 To $16.00 Annually

The Cafeteria Assistant supports the daily meal service program at Excelsior Prep Charter Schools by assisting with food preparation, serving meals, maintaining cleanliness, and helping ensure a safe and efficient cafeteria operation. This position contributes to a positive dining experience for students and staff by following food safety practices, supporting team operations, and providing courteous service.

Hours: 9am-2pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
