Description

Sugar Bowl Resort is looking for a Cafe Supervisor to lead the minute-by-minute, day-to-day management of our Front of House F&B team at Main Lodge. You’ll be willing and able to provide exceptional customer service in every situation, 100% of the time — not just to our Village homeowners and guests, but to every teammate you work alongside. This role calls for sharp problem-solving and troubleshooting instincts, a level head under pressure, and a genuine commitment to Sugar Bowl’s policies and standards at all times. If you take real pride in running a tight, welcoming operation and love developing the people around you, we’d love to have you leading our cafe.

Why Sugar Bowl?

Sugar Bowl Resort has been proudly independent for over 80 years and is one of the oldest ski resorts in California. Situated atop beautiful Donner Summit, Sugar Bowl has a storied past with ties to Austrian ski culture, Hollywood and Walt Disney. This special community helped bring skiing to “sunny California” since December 1939. Since then, it continues to attract adventurous winter sports enthusiasts alike.

Who You Are:
  • 1 year+ of previous management experience in Food & Beverage or Hospitality
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable handling multiple tasks at once while providing positive, exceptional leadership
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Holds, or is willing to obtain, Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification
  • A genuine sense of pride and ownership in your position, department, and the resort as a whole
  • Focused on making the department look exceptional through consistent hard work and attention to detail
  • Calm and level-headed under pressure, with sharp problem-solving and troubleshooting instincts
  • Warm and approachable, with a natural ability to build trust with the team quickly
  • Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for a resort operating schedule
  • Open to learning new skills and supporting other departments as needed — a versatile, team-first mindset
What You’ll do:
  • Assist with the opening and daily operations of the Main Lodge Cafe
  • Assist in training, developing, and supervising Front of House team members
  • Maintain high integrity in all guest financial interactions
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both written and verbally
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of all menu items, and be willing to assist in the kitchen if needed

  • Assist with weekly, meaningful safety meetings with all team members, documented properly
  • Exercise excellent listening skills with both external and internal guests
  • Help create a courteous, friendly, professional, and team-focused work environment
  • Maintain consistent opening and closing duties per checklists
  • Cross-train and lend a hand in other departments as needed, building a broader understanding of resort operations
Physical Requirements:
  • Standing and walking for extended periods throughout a shift
