Job summary

Sugar Bowl Resort is seeking Baristas who are dynamic, energetic, and passionate about coffee. You’ll craft drinks that fuel our guests' mountain days and bring warmth to every interaction. At least 6 months of barista experience is required and candidates should be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

California food handler and RBS certifications are preferred or will be pursued. We offer 4 part-time and 4 full-time positions.

Qualifications

  • At least 6 months of barista experience.
  • Passionate about coffee and espresso craft.
  • Warm and engaging, with a guest-focused approach.
  • Detail-oriented with emphasis on consistency and quality.
  • Basic math skills for handling checks and payments.
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Willing to obtain CA Food Handler’s certification and RBS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and engage with guests.
  • Prepare coffee beverages to Sugar Bowl standards.
  • Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
  • Follow outlet policies for station flow and operations.
  • Stock, rotate, and merchandise products; maintain cleanliness.
  • Present yourself professionally and deliver plus-one service.
  • Cross-train in other departments as needed.

Sugar Bowl Resort is looking for Baristas who are dynamic, energetic, and genuinely passionate about coffee and espresso. You’ll craft the drinks that fuel our guests’ mountain days, one perfect pour at a time, while bringing warmth and great conversation to every interaction. At least six months of barista experience is required — if you love the craft and the connection that comes with a great cup of coffee, we’d love to have you behind our bar.

Sugar Bowl Resort has been proudly independent for over 80 years and is one of the oldest ski resorts in California. Situated atop beautiful Donner Summit, Sugar Bowl has a storied past with ties to Austrian ski culture, Hollywood and Walt Disney.   • Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for a resort operating schedule
  • Committed to providing excellent, attentive service to every guest, every time
  • Open to learning new skills and supporting other departments as needed; a versatile, team-first mindset
  • Holds, or is willing to obtain, Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification
  • Holds, or is willing to obtain, a current California Food Handler’s certification

What You’ll do:

  • Greet and engage with guests
  • Prepare coffee beverages to Sugar Bowl standards
  • Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for product preparation
  • Follow outlet policies and procedures for operational flow at each station
  • Follow standards for merchandising, stocking, rotating, and storing products
  • Perform cleaning tasks in accordance with duty rosters and cleaning standards
  • Present yourself professionally and communicate clearly, using plus-one service in all guest and staff interactions
  • Cross-train and lend a hand in other departments as needed, building a broader understanding of resort operations

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods throughout a shift
  • Comfortable working near hot liquids, steam, and espresso equipment
  • Manual dexterity for operating espresso machines, grinders, and point-of-sale systems
  • Comfortable lifting and carrying supplies (milk, coffee, syrups) up to 30 lbs
  • Sufficient visual and auditory acuity to manage a busy station and respond promptly to guests
