Job summary

Vivalon in San Rafael, CA is seeking a Café Supervisor to lead daily café operations and volunteer engagement within a vibrant community setting.

You will recruit and train volunteers, ensure excellent customer service, oversee meal service and safety standards, manage the POS system and Salesforce activities, and coordinate events with staff and partners to create welcoming experiences for members, guests, and staff.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience supervising daily operations in café/food-service.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Experience training, supervising, coordinating, or supporting staff and/or volunteers.
• Current ServSafe Food Manager Certification or ability to obtain.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Salesforce.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations, sanitation practices, inventory management, and workplace safety.
• Experience coordinating events or volunteer-driven operations.

What You'll Do

Lead Volunteers & Create a Welcoming Experience

• Promote exceptional customer service and help create a welcoming experience for members, guests, and staff.
• Manage day-to-day café operations, including meal service, dining room readiness, food presentation, and cleanliness.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.

Manage Systems, Events & Community Engagement

• Oversee the café POS system, daily transactions, recordkeeping, and Salesforce-related activities.
• Coordinate café reservations, special events, and community gatherings in partnership with staff, volunteers, vendors, and community organizations.

Build Partnerships & Maintain Quality

• Work closely with food service vendors to coordinate menus, deliveries, inventory, and operational needs.
• Monitor service quality, identify opportunities for improvement, and help ensure the café remains a safe, organized, and welcoming community space.

Requirements:

What You'll Bring

• Three or more years of experience supervising daily operations in a café, restaurant, hospitality, or food service environment.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Experience training, supervising, coordinating, or supporting staff and/or volunteers.
• Current ServSafe Food Manager Certification, or the ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong verbal, written, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with Salesforce or similar database systems.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations, sanitation practices, inventory management, kitchen operations, and workplace safety standards.
• Experience coordinating events, community programs, or volunteer-driven operations.

Compensation and Benefits:

• $30-$40 an hour (depending on experience)

Salary Information

$30 - $40Hourly Wage
