Job summary

The Clover and the Bee in Webster Groves, MO is seeking a Shift Lead to help guide our daytime café team and ensure service runs smoothly. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with barista experience who can connect with guests and coworkers.

Full-time preferred, 32–40 hours/week, with shifts starting as early as 6:15 AM and extending into the afternoon. This is a tipped hourly position with a $1–$2 premium above base server pay, plus PTO, health insurance, and growth opportunities

Shift Lead – The Clover and the Bee

Webster Groves, MO | Full-Time Preferred | 32–40 Hours/Week | Tipped Position

The Clover and the Bee is looking for a Shift Lead to help lead our daytime café team and keep service running smoothly, warmly, and efficiently. This is a great opportunity for an experienced barista or hospitality professional who is ready to take on more leadership responsibility. Previous leadership experience is preferred, but we are also open to someone with the right attitude, reliability, and ability to connect with both guests and coworkers.

Barista Experience Is Required.

What You’ll Do

When our Assistant Manager is not on shift, the Shift Lead helps guide the café through the day. Responsibilities include:

• Opening and closing the café
• Helping direct the flow of service and keeping the team organized
• Assigning side work and other responsibilities during the shift
• Training and supporting team members
• Providing in-the-moment direction and communicating larger coaching or performance concerns to management
• Maintaining our standards for hospitality, cleanliness, and service
• Interacting with guests and helping resolve day-to-day service issues
• Preparing espresso drinks and supporting café beverage service
• Taking orders, running food, bussing tables, and packaging to-go orders
• Restocking and maintaining a clean, organized café
• Jumping in wherever needed to keep service moving

This is a hands-on leadership role. Shift Leads are part of the team on the floor, not standing on the sidelines.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous barista experience required
• Some restaurant, café, or hospitality leadership experience preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Dependability and punctuality, especially for opening shifts
• Comfortable giving clear direction to coworkers while maintaining a positive team environment
• Confidence interacting with guests and solving problems in the moment
• Interest in developing stronger barista and leadership skills
• Desire to grow within a restaurant group

Schedule

• Full-time preferred, approximately 32–40 hours per week
• Availability as early as 6:15 AM on some mornings
• Shifts may run as late as approximately 4:00 PM
• Some weekend availability is required
• Shift Leads will typically work either opening or later daytime shifts rather than regularly working open to close

Compensation & Benefits

This is a tipped hourly position with a $1–$2 per hour Shift Lead premium above our regular server hourly compensation.
