Job summary

Willow Valley Communities is seeking Café Attendants for its new Food for Thought cafe at the Marlin & Doris Thomas Memory Center. Start dates are anticipated between December 2026 and January 2027.

You will help create a welcoming gathering place for Residents, families, guests, and Team Members, delivering exceptional hospitality in a fast-paced setting. Responsibilities include food prep, beverage service, inventory assistance, and POS operations while upholding high standards of quality,

Qualifications

• Strong customer service and communication skills required.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to food safety and hospitality excellence.

Responsibilities

• Make coffee and set up the café service line.
• Prepare food for café operations and catering functions.
• Determine café production needs and assist with inventory and ordering.
• Slice deli meats and cheeses.
• Prepare meat salads using standardized recipes.
• Take customer orders and assemble salads and sandwiches.
• Operate the POS system.
• Maintain cleanliness of the deli counter, dining area, kitchen, and pantry.
• Assist with catering setup and delivery.
• Receive and store food items according to safety guidelines.

We're seeking compassionate, service-oriented individuals to join our team as Café Attendants at our new cafe Food for Thought. In this role, you'll do more than prepare food and beverages. You'll help create a welcoming gathering place where Residents, families, guests, and Team Members can connect and enjoy exceptional hospitality.

Schedules:

• Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities Available
• Shift times could be 7:00 AM-3:00 PM/8:00 AM-3:30 PM/10:00 AM-3:30 PM

Varies based on business needs and could include weekends and holidays

What You'll Do

As a Café Attendant, you will help ensure a positive dining experience while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, safety, and customer service.

Responsibilities include:

• Making coffee and setting up the café service line
• Preparing food for café operations and catering functions
• Determining café production needs and assisting with inventory and ordering
• Slicing deli meats and cheeses
• Preparing meat salads using standardized recipes
• Taking customer orders and assembling salads and sandwiches
• Operating the point-of-sale (POS) system
• Maintaining cleanliness of the deli counter, dining area, kitchen, and pantry
• Assisting with catering set‑up and delivery
• Receiving and storing food items according to food safety guidelines
• Following Willow Valley Communities' HACCP and food safety procedures
• Providing exceptional customer service and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere
• Verifying identification for alcohol purchases when applicable
• Performing other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• One to three months of related experience and/or training preferred
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Commitment to food safety, sanitation, and hospitality excellence
