Job summary

Rivian is seeking a CAE Engineer II to own the structural integrity, dynamic safety, and craftsmanship performance for Interior Hard Trims and Door Trim systems. You will use non-linear simulations to resolve complex plastic failures and optimize fit before physical tests.

You should have 3+ years of Automotive Interior CAE experience and proficiency in LS-DYNA or ABAQUS, plus pre/post tools (ANSA/HyperWorks/META).

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
3+ years of Automotive Interior CAE Experience.
Proficiency in LS-DYNA or ABAQUS for non-linear analysis.
Proficiency in pre/post-processors (ANSA, HyperWorks, META).
Specialized interior plastic design guidelines, polymer behavior, and fastener joint integrity.
Knowledge of Interior Safety/Occupant Protection standards (FMVSS 201/201U, FMVSS 214, FMVSS 208/226).

Responsibilities

Execute High-Fidelity Simulations: Model complex non-linear dynamic, structural, and abuse load cases for Door Trim assemblies, Instrument Panels, Pillars, and Consoles.
Predict Interior Failure Modes: Predict crashworthiness, airbag deployment dynamics, door slam durability, step loads, and clip-on/snap-fit forces.
Non-Linear Polymer Analysis: Evaluate injection-molded plastics, foams, and interior composites under thermal variations to predict creep and failures.
Correlate & Validate: Model interior attachment methods and validate virtual models against tests.
Optimize & Partner: Work with CAD and Design engineers to lightweight and optimize rib patterns while preserving NVH and finish.
