Job summary

Intent Design LTD in California is seeking a Senior Engineer / Engineer - Interiors to lead and shape interior components and systems from concept to production.

You will collaborate with marketing, design and vehicle engineering, ensure technical excellence, and guide suppliers to on-time delivery while applying CAD expertise and GD&T.

The role requires 4+ years in interior systems, plus bachelor’s or master’s in mechanical engineering, with hands-on development and SOP experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 4+ years as a detail‑oriented Interior Components and Systems development lead (e.g., hard trim, soft trim, IP, door trims, consoles, headliners).
• Knowledge of automotive interior components and supplier capabilities.
• Experience creating or refining technical product specifications and timelines for accelerated development toward SOP.
• Proficiency in CAD for interior drawings and packaging layouts (CATIA V5/V6 preferred).
• Vehicle and product launch experience.
• Hands‑on approach complementing theoretical knowledge.

• Be a significant contributor to a worldclass Interior Components and Systems engineering team
• Create industryleading Interior Components and Systems with groundbreaking luxury, craftsmanship, performance, safety, ergonomics and functionality
• Contribute to the packaging, engineering, release, and launch of Interior Components and Systems
• Work collaboratively within a crossfunctional marketing, design and vehicle engineering team, prioritizing overall vehicle benefit above individual systems
• Collaborate with interior trim suppliers to ensure technical excellence and ontime delivery Interior Components and Systems
• Employ and develop effective tools and innovative approaches to support product development

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• 4+ years of demonstrated experience as a detailoriented Interior Components and Systems development lead (e.g., hard trim, soft trim, IP, door trims, consoles, headliners, etc.)
• Knowledge and understanding of automotive interior components and systems, industry benchmarks, trends, and supplier capabilities
• Experience creating, improving, or establishing technical product specifications and timelines to support accelerated development toward SOP
• Proficiency in CAD for 2D/3D concept drawings, interior components and systems, packaging layouts, and DFM studies (CATIA V5/V6 preferred)
• Vehicle and product launch experience
• Experience completing one full program cycle from concept to production launch in automotive interior components and systems
• Profound knowledge of vehicle interior systems with a demonstrable track record of technical excellence and program execution
• Strong understanding of plastic part design, structural performance, manufacturing technologies, craftsmanship, ergonomics, safety and homologation requirements
• Competency in materials selection, plastic injection molding/DFM and GD&T
• A practical, hands‑on approach that complements theoretical knowledge
• Exceptional technical abilities paired with excellent communication skills
