Job summary

1X is hiring a CAD Modeler to translate industrial design intent into high-quality, production-ready CAD geometry for the NEO humanoid robot. You will bridge digital models with physical prototypes, balancing aesthetics with mechanical and manufacturing constraints.

You’ll collaborate with Industrial Design and Mechanical Engineering on rapid geometry iterations, tackle packaging and assembly challenges, and contribute to tooling and production-ready workflows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in CAD modeling, digital surfacing, Class-A surfacing, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience developing complex surface geometry for physical products.
• Strong proficiency in CAD/surfacing tools such as Autodesk Alias, Rhino, CATIA, NX, or similar.
• Strong understanding of surface continuity, curvature, transitions, and overall surface quality.
• Experience translating industrial design intent into robust, manufacturable CAD geometry.

Responsibilities

• Translate industrial design intent into high-quality surface geometry for NEO.
• Balance surface quality with product integration, prototyping, and manufacturability.
• Work across complex assemblies to resolve geometric and packaging challenges.
• Support the development of prototypes, mockups, and production-intent assemblies.
• Develop robust CAD geometry from concepts through prototyping into manufacturing.
• Improve modeling workflows and CAD data consistency.
