Job summary

1X seeks a Manufacturing Engineering intern to help scale production of our humanoid NEO platform. You’ll develop repeatable processes, build fixtures, and ensure designs are manufacturable for high-volume output.

This role blends hands-on work with CAD, process validation, and cross-team collaboration to move parts from stock to finished hardware. You’ll contribute to reducing cycle times and improving yield, while documenting everything to enable transfer to the next robot revision.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in manufacturing or mechanical engineering.
• Basic CAD skills (SolidWorks, Onshape, or similar).
• Comfortable doing physical work, including setup, assembly, and post-processing.
• Currently studying engineering or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Develop and document repeatable manufacturing and assembly processes for prototype and pre-production parts.
• Build and improve fixtures, jigs, and workflows to reduce build time and scrap.
• Own process validation and durability testing for parts and assemblies.
• Produce and maintain CAD/process documentation for repeatability across the team.
• Collaborate with design and engineering on manufacturability improvements before parts hit the floor.
