Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Drafting Intern in Chattanooga, TN to support revising existing drawings and preparing basic component drawings from instructions or sketches. The role involves learning drafting standards, following procedures, and contributing to project work in multiple market segments.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of certificate, Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Computer-Aided Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related degree.
• Currently enrolled in post-secondary education in a related field.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Self-motivated and eager learner; aptitude to grow within the field.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status.

Responsibilities

• Revise existing drawings and prepare drawings of basic components.
• Plot drawings and learn drafting standards and procedures.
• Follow company and client drafting standards; learn practices of a selected discipline.
• Contribute to projects across multiple market segments and locations.
