Job summary

Silent-Aire, a division of Johnson Controls, is seeking an Equipment Designer/Drafter to create, modify, and manage detailed 2D and 3D models for engineering and product development. You will translate concepts and specifications into accurate technical drawings while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

The role requires 2–5 years of CAD drafting experience, proficiency in Inventor and Creo, and a strong grasp of GD&T and drafting standards.

Qualifications

• College diploma in mechanical engineering design and drafting technology, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of professional CAD drafting or design experience.
• 2–5 years of experience supporting mechanical products and assemblies in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Inventor & Creo.
• Strong understanding of dimensioning, tolerancing, and drafting standards (GD&T).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering documentation.
• Solid knowledge of materials, fabrication methods, or construction practices relevant to Manufacturing.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce and revise 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software such as Inventor, Creo, Revit or similar tools.
• Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and design notes to develop accurate technical documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other designers to ensure design intent is fully captured.
• Maintain drawing accuracy through version control, documentation updates, and adherence to drafting standards ASME Y14.
• Prepare layouts, assemblies, detail drawings, and bill of materials (BOMs) as required.
• Conduct basic design calculations or checks to validate dimensions and tolerances.
• Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback efficiently.
• Support the development of manufacturing, construction, or fabrication packages.
• Identify design issues and propose practical solutions to improve manufacturability or constructability.
• Ensure all work complies with company standards, industry codes, and project requirements.
