Job summary

Applied Physical Sciences Corp. is seeking a CAD Drafter/Designer for the Ocean Systems Division to produce technical drawings, 3D models, and BOMs using SolidWorks.

The role collaborates with mechanical/electrical engineers and supports GD&T controls and data packaging. The candidate should have a solid CAD background (2-year degree or equivalent) and proficiency with Microsoft Office; DoD security clearance is required or obtainable.

Qualifications

• Attention to detail, teamwork abilities, good communication and organization skills.
• Minimum 2-year degree or relative CAD-related experience.
• Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5, Y14.41 and Y14.100.
• Experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
• Good knowledge and use of GD&T system.
• Positive attitude and goal orientation.
• General knowledge of mechanical hardware and common systems (gears, shafts, fasteners, bearings, etc).
• Team-oriented and able to handle redirection or running changes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Create, revise and update technical drawings/documents.
• Create 3D models from plans/drawings or sketches.
• Implement configuration control processes for technical content.
• Create BOMs and associated lists.
• Analyze tolerancing and apply GD&T controls.
• Support the creation of technical data packages (TDP).
• Create documentation or manuals from technical information or 3D models.
