Job summary

Power Test, LLC, a leader in heavy‑duty dynamometers and data acquisition systems, is seeking a detail‑oriented CAD Designer to join our Engineering team. You will translate specifications into actionable 3D models, technical drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs), collaborating with Engineers, Senior Designers, and shop personnel to ensure manufacturability, cost effectiveness, and high quality.

You’ll perform modeling, drafting, and documentation, maintain ECNs in SolidWorks PDM, and support

• Strong SolidWorks and blueprint reading skills; GD&T understanding.

Responsibilities

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated CAD Designer to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will work closely with Engineers, Senior Designers, and shop personnel to turn specifications into actionable 3D models, technical drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs). You’ll play a key part in ensuring our machinery designs are cost-effective, high quality, and built for manufacturability.

What You Will Do

• Modeling & Drafting: Modify and adjust existing 3D models and produce layouts, assemblies, and detailed technical drawings for standard models and new products.
• Documentation & BOMs: Compile Bills of Materials (BOMs), specification sheets, and execute Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) using SolidWorks PDM.
• Shop Collaboration: Work directly with manufacturing personnel to ensure design manufacturability, efficiency, and proper fit, form, and function.
• Continuous Improvement: Participate in Lean initiatives and recommend practical ways to improve design and manufacturing processes.
• Project Support: Study blueprints, perform design investigations, and maintain organized engineering records to keep project timelines on track.

What You Bring

Required:

• Education: Associate degree (2-year) in Drafting, Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• CAD Tools: Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and MS Office.
• Technical Skills: Solid background in blueprint reading, technical drawing layouts, and applying manufacturing processes (including datums, tolerancing, and GD&T concepts).
• Mechanical Aptitude: Hands‑on understanding of industrial machinery, fabrication, and metal characteristics.
• Mindset: Strong math skills, analytical problem-solving ability, and a collaborative team‑player attitude.

Preferred / Plus

• SolidWorks PDM and AutoCAD experience.
• Basic understanding of electrical and software systems.
