Job summary

Dixon Fire, a division of The Dixon Group, is seeking a CAD Drafter to join our engineering team in Winchester, VA. You will design couplings, valves, and machinery, updating models and drawings using SolidWorks, and collaborating with engineering and production on requested changes.

This role requires a high school diploma, ability to read complex documents, familiarity with drawing standards and blueprint symbols, and quick learning of new products and software.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
• Understanding of drawing standards and tolerancing methods.
• Familiarity with machine design details such as threads, nuts, bolts, and welds.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to quickly learn about new products and software.
• Ability to understand blueprint symbols.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D models and detailed drawings in SolidWorks.
• Collaborate with engineers and production to update drawings.
• Create assemblies and verify mechanical fit.
• Coordinate the proper creation of item types, manufacturability requirements, and bills of materials.
• Self-check completed assignments and cross-check coworkers' completed assignments.
• Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to ensure product manufacturability.
• Select materials and calculate weights and volumes.
• Generate new designs from concept to completion while considering manufacturability and cost.
• Support standard products and handle special customer project work.
