Job summary

The Dixon Group is seeking a CAD Drafter to join our Winchester, Virginia site. You will apply mechanical engineering principles to design couplings, connections, valves, machines and components, updating models and drawings based on requested changes.

Responsibilities include creating 3D models in SolidWorks, collaborating with engineering and production, and ensuring manufacturability and cost-conscious designs. A high school diploma is required and veteran applicants are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and interpret complex drawings
• Understanding drawing standards and tolerancing methods
• Ability to learn new products and software quickly

Responsibilities

• Create 3D models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks
• Collaborate with engineers and production staff
• Create assemblies and ensure mechanical fit of components
• Coordinate item types, manufacturability requirements, and BOMs
• Self-check assignments and cross-check coworkers' work
• Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure product manufacturability
• Select materials and calculate weights and volumes
• Generate new designs from concept to completion considering manufacturability and cost
• Support standard products and perform special customer project work
