Job summary

Afinitas is seeking a highly skilled CAD Designer to join the engineering team to create detailed 2D and 3D mechanical designs using CAD software and ensure compliance with project specifications. You will apply GD&T, interpret codes, and collaborate with engineers on diverse construction and manufacturing projects.

The role requires experience with AutoCAD/SolidWorks, strong documentation skills, and the ability to perform FEA validations to ensure design integrity under load.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, Creo, Autodesk Inventor, and similar CAD tools.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and design processes.
• Experience with GD&T standards and AASHTO/AREMA codes; familiarity with ASTM standards.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills; PDF markup and document management.
• Proficient in MS Excel for data management and BOM configuration.
• Ability to perform FEA analyses and interpret results for structural integrity.
• Experience drafting schematics, assembly drawings, and 2D animations.

Responsibilities

• Develop precise 2D and 3D CAD models, schematics, and drawings for mechanical systems and assemblies.
• Use software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other CAD tools to produce detailed designs.
• Apply GD&T principles to ensure manufacturability and quality.
• Interpret engineering specs, AASHTO/AREMA and ASTM standards for compliant designs.
• Collaborate with engineers to refine system designs and solve technical challenges.
• Conduct FEA simulations to validate design integrity under operating conditions.
• Prepare technical documentation including assembly instructions and system schematics.
• Support construction and manufacturing teams with detailed drawings and guidance.
• Maintain CAD file version control and drafting standards throughout the project lifecycle.
