Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a Designer Intern to contribute to detailed physical and electrical designs under engineering supervision.

You will prepare AutoCAD or MicroStation drawings and assist with project documentation, gaining real-world experience in relay equipment panel design and process improvement. As an intern, you will have flexible scheduling to accommodate classes, with the possibility of transitioning to full-time roles after graduation.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in EET, CAD, Drafting or a related field.
• Competent in CADD drafting using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
• Ability to learn new skills and take on responsibilities.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Background check results must be satisfactory to SEL.
• Negative drug test results are required.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed physical and electrical designs, bills of materials, and job estimates under the supervision of an engineer.
• Prepare AutoCAD or MicroStation drawings and associated project documentation.
• Provide support to engineers and other team members within the division.
• Complete assigned work within schedule and budget with high quality.
• Assist with designing relay equipment panels and racks.
• Continuously identify, measure, and improve processes.
• Understand. Create. Simplify.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
