Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. seeks a Designer Intern to work full-time in the summer or part-time during the school year in Pullman, WA. You will develop electrical design knowledge, draft CAD/Microstation drawings, and assist engineers while learning from industry leaders.

The role emphasizes detailed design work, BOMs, project documentation, and timely support on testing and rack construction. Interns may transition to full-time roles after graduation.

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing a degree in EET, CAD, or Drafting.
• Competence in CAD drafting (AutoCAD and/or MicroStation).
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
• Able to learn new skills and work cooperatively in a team.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed physical and electrical designs, bills of materials, and job estimates under supervision.
• Prepare CAD or Microstation drawings and project documentation.
• Provide low-level engineering support to engineers and other staff.
• Complete assigned work on schedule and within budget with high quality.
