Job summary

At SJE, the Altronex brand in Madison, WI, seeks a Design Drafter to produce accurate CAD files for our custom control systems. You will read plans, specifications, and engineering sketches to create layouts, interconnections, and ladder logic diagrams in compliance with company standards and UL 508A.

You will support engineering submittals, bills of materials, shop drawings, as-built and O&M manuals, and help plan, assign, and prioritize CAD work to meet schedules.

Qualifications

• Understanding of electrical drawings, panel layouts, circuits, ladder logic, control systems and UL 508A.
• Familiarity with the Water/Wastewater industry and controls systems.
• Experience creating and modifying CAD drawings, preferably in an engineering, manufacturing, electrical, or control panel environment.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, engineering sketches, and technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, complete documentation.
• Ability to follow company standards, design guidelines, and project requirements.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and support multiple projects.
• Ability to communicate effectively with Engineering, Production, Project Management, and other internal teams.
• Experience maintaining project files, documentation, archives, and reference materials.
• A proactive, team-oriented approach with the ability to work independently when needed.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret plans, specifications, engineering sketches, and drawings to create accurate CAD files for custom control systems.
• Develop drawings including system overviews and interconnections, cabinet and panel layouts, electrical equipment layouts, electrical circuits, ladder logic, legends, indexes, and project revision information.
• Prepare drawing files and documentation for engineering submittals, bills of materials, production books, shop drawings, as-built and as-installed documentation, and operation and maintenance manuals.
• Assist in planning, assigning, and prioritizing CAD work to support project schedules and team needs.
• Maintain proper project documentation, support archiving and reference database activities, and complete other related duties as directed by management.
