Job summary

WireCrafters, LLC, based in Louisville, KY, seeks an Engineering Software Developer to build automation tools for engineering and manufacturing teams. The role focuses on Autodesk Inventor automation, generating configurable parts and assemblies through code, and moving away from Factory Design to create flexible internal tools.

You will work with engineers to automate CAD tasks, enhance legacy workflows, and deliver reliable software that improves drafting speed and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional software development in engineering, manufacturing, CAD, or design automation.
  • Proficiency in C# and the .NET ecosystem; ability to read, maintain, or develop VB.NET code.
  • Experience with Visual Studio and object-oriented programming.
  • Hands-on experience with Autodesk Inventor or similar CAD platform.
  • Understanding of mechanical assemblies, drawings, BOMs, parameters, and parametric modeling.
  • Ability to analyze workflows, work independently, and communicate with engineering users.
  • Experience with Git or other source control.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain engineering applications using C#, VB.NET, and .NET.
  • Use Inventor API to create, modify, and configure parts and assemblies via code.
  • Automate drawings including views, dimensions, annotations, and BOMs.
  • Build tools for component placement, constraints, parameters, and iProperties.
  • Modernize legacy workflows and support existing VB/C# apps.
  • Collaborate with engineers to automate manual design processes.
  • Troubleshoot CAD automation issues and write maintainable code.
  • Assist integrations between engineering software, Autodesk systems, databases, and other business systems.
