Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Data Center Cable Technician in Omaha, NE for a 4-month full-time contract with a day shift. The role involves installing, pulling, routing, terminating, and testing Cat6 and fiber cabling in a live data center environment.

Open to experienced technicians and entry-level helpers, with OSHA 10 certification and ability to pass background screenings. Onsite in Omaha; pay range $20–$35/hr, with benefits and comprehensive eligibility depending on classification.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of structured cabling experience.
• Experience leading crews or overseeing portions of projects.
• Strong background with Cat5e/Cat6 and fiber installations.
• Experience terminating and testing copper and fiber cabling.
• Comfortable working within active data centers.

Responsibilities

• Install cable pathways, ladder racks, j-hooks, and cable management systems

Job Description

We are looking for Cable Technicians to support large-scale Data Center projects. We have openings for both experienced technicians and entry-level helpers who are looking to build a career in structured cabling and data center infrastructure.

This role will involve installing, pulling, routing, terminating, and testing Cat6 and fiber optic cabling within a live data center environment. Candidates who have experience with cable terminations, certification testing, and leading small crews are highly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Pull, route, dress, and secure Cat6 and fiber optic cabling
• Install cable pathways, ladder racks, j-hooks, and cable management systems
• Terminate Cat6 and fiber cabling
• Perform cable testing, troubleshooting, and certification
• Label and document installed cabling
• Work safely in active data center environments
• Read and follow cabling diagrams and project drawings
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Follow all site safety requirements

Qualifications

Lead Technicians

• 3+ years of structured cabling experience
• Experience leading crews or overseeing portions of projects

Helpers / Junior Technicians

• 6 months to 2 years of construction, low voltage, electrical, or cabling experience

• Strong work ethic and reliable attendance

Required Certifications

• OSHA 10 Certification (Required)
• Ability to pass any required background screenings
• Reliable transportation to project sites

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Omaha, NE.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
