Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a contract-to-hire Cable Installer for Fort Myers, FL. The role involves installing, routing, and managing CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, and fiber, terminating copper and fiber connectors, and testing links with appropriate equipment.

You will build out infrastructure and troubleshoot cabling issues onsite. Candidates should have strong knowledge of low‑voltage systems, blueprint reading, and experience with standard tools like crimpers and cable testers.

Qualifications

• Experience with low‑voltage cabling systems and standard practices.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
• Familiarity with crimpers, punch‑down tools, and cable testers.
• Capability to lift heavy materials, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces.

Responsibilities

Description

Cable Installation: Pull, route, and manage CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, and fiber optic cabling through cable trays, racks, and conduits.

Termination & Testing: Terminate copper (patch panels, jacks) and fiber (LC, SC) connectors; test and certify links with equipment like Fluke analyzers.

Infrastructure Build-out: Install racks, cabinets, cable pathways, and supporting hardware.

System Maintenance: Troubleshoot, identify, and repair cabling faults and connectivity issues.

Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all safety procedures (OSHA, NFPA), including safe use of ladders and lift equipment.

Documentation: Label all cables and ports, and update documentation or as-built drawings

Job Type & Location

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
