Job summary

TEKsystems in Fort Myers, FL is seeking a Contract-to-Hire Cable Technician to install and maintain low-voltage cabling networks onsite. You will pull, route, terminate, test, and document CAT5e/6/6A and fiber connections onsite.

Ideal candidates bring hands-on experience with patch panels, jacks, LC/SC fiber connectors, blueprints, and safety compliance (OSHA/NFPA). This onsite role offers competitive hourly pay and comprehensive benefits for eligible team members.

Qualifications

• Technical proficiency in low-voltage cabling systems.
• Blueprint reading: ability to read blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
• Tools familiarity: proficiency with crimpers, punch-down tools, and cable testers.

Responsibilities

• Cable Installation: Pull, route, and manage CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, and fiber optic cabling through cable trays, racks, and conduits.
• Termination & Testing: Terminate copper and fiber connectors; test and certify links with equipment.
• Infrastructure Build-out: Install racks, cabinets, cable pathways, and supporting hardware.
• System Maintenance: Troubleshoot, identify, and repair cabling faults and connectivity issues.
• Documentation: Label cables and ports, and update documentation or as-built drawings

Description

Cable Installation: Pull, route, and manage CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, and fiber optic cabling through cable trays, racks, and conduits.

Termination & Testing: Terminate copper (patch panels, jacks) and fiber (LC, SC) connectors; test and certify links with equipment like Fluke analyzers.

Infrastructure Build-out: Install racks, cabinets, cable pathways, and supporting hardware.

System Maintenance: Troubleshoot, identify, and repair cabling faults and connectivity issues.

Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all safety procedures (OSHA, NFPA), including safe use of ladders and lift equipment.

Documentation: Label all cables and ports, and update documentation or as-built drawings

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Myers, FL.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
