Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking an intermediate-level Cable Installer for a contract-to-hire role in Fort Myers, FL. You will pull, route, and manage CAT5e/CAT6/CAT6A and fiber cabling, terminating copper and fiber, and testing links to certify performance.

You will install racks and pathways, troubleshoot faults, and ensure safety standards compliance on site. Onsite work and physical stamina are required, with BICSI certifications preferred.

Qualifications

  • Technical proficiency in low-voltage cabling systems and standard practices.
  • Blueprint reading: read blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
  • Tools familiarity: with crimpers, punch-down tools, and cable testers.
  • Physical stamina: able to lift heavy materials, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces.
  • Certifications: often requires or prefers BICSI certifications.

Responsibilities

Description

Cable Installation: Pull, route, and manage CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, and fiber optic cabling through cable trays, racks, and conduits.

Termination & Testing: Terminate copper (patch panels, jacks) and fiber (LC, SC) connectors; test and certify links with equipment like Fluke analyzers.

Infrastructure Build-out: Install racks, cabinets, cable pathways, and supporting hardware.

System Maintenance: Troubleshoot, identify, and repair cabling faults and connectivity issues.

Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all safety procedures (OSHA, NFPA), including safe use of ladders and lift equipment.

Documentation: Label all cables and ports, and update documentation or as-built drawings

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
