Job summary

TEKsystems in Cincinnati, OH is seeking an Infrastructure / Structured Cabling Technician for 1st shift (Mon-Fri). This fully onsite contract-to-hire role focuses on daily structured cabling across commercial environments, handling copper terminations, routing, and clean installs.

You will pull and dress Cat5e/Cat6, perform punchdowns, terminate RJ45 and patch panels, and assist with closet buildouts. Expect to maintain safe work areas and support devices like WAPs and switches as needed.

Qualifications

• 1–3+ years of structured cabling experience.
• Strong punchdown and termination skills (RJ45, patch panels).
• Read basic cabling layouts and follow directions.

Responsibilities

• Structured cabling installs including pulling, routing, and dressing Cat5e/Cat6.
• Punchdowns and terminations on RJ45, patch panels, and jacks.
• Closet buildouts with racks, cable management, and labeling.
• Device support for WAPs, scanners, and switches as needed.
• Testing and verification with basic continuity checks.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and follow site protocols.

Infrastructure / Structured Cabling Technician - Cincinnati, OH (1st Shift, Mon-Fri)

Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday-Friday

Location: Cincinnati, OH - Local work

Type: Contract-to-hire (if applicable)

About the Role

This technician supports daily structured cabling work across commercial and enterprise environments. You’ll handle copper terminations, punchdowns, cable routing, and ensure clean, standards-based installs.

Key Responsibilities

• Structured cabling installs - pulling, routing, dressing Cat5e/Cat6

• Punchdowns & terminations - RJ45, patch panels, jacks

• Closet buildouts - racks, cable management, labeling

• Device support - WAPs, scanners, switches (as needed)

• Testing & verification - basic continuity testing

• Maintain clean, safe work areas and follow all site protocols

Required Experience

• 1-3+ years structured cabling experience

• Strong punchdown and termination skills (RJ45, patch panels)

• Ability to read basic cabling layouts and follow direction

• Comfortable working on ladders and lifting 50 lbs

Preferred

• Experience in commercial or data center environments

• Familiarity with Fluke testing (not required)

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
