Job summary

Take2 Consulting, LLC is seeking a Cable Systems Support Technician to install, repair, and test copper and fiber cabling at the Hampton VA Medical Center in Hampton, VA. The role covers MACs, field support, and infrastructure projects in a federal healthcare setting.

The candidate should have 2+ years of structured cabling experience, knowledge of ANSI/TIA-568, and the ability to work independently in a busy healthcare environment. Public Trust clearance is required and onsite work only.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of hands-on structured cabling or low-voltage field experience.
• Familiarity with ANSI/TIA-568 and related standards; follow drawings and work orders.
• Ability to use field tools and troubleshoot Layer 1 connectivity.
• Work independently in a healthcare environment with professional coordination.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and repair copper cabling (Cat5e/6/6A) and related patch panels.
• Support fiber installation, patching, fault isolation, cleaning, and fiber testing coordination.
• Provide first‑ and second‑level field support for MDFs, TRs, cross‑connects, and related Layer 1 infra.
• Assist with MACs, workstation relocations, equipment moves, and connectivity restoration.
• Support site surveys, cable pathways, material ID, planning, and closeout documentation.
• Perform cable dressing, rack/ladders, labeling, grounding, firestopping, and housekeeping per site rules.
• Use test equipment to validate continuity and document results; escalate faults as needed.
• Support infrastructure upgrades, equipment replacement, and network cutovers.
• Maintain accurate service-ticket notes, test records, and as-built documentation.
• Perform work per ANSI/TIA, BICSI, NEC, safety rules, and Federal access requirements.
