Job description

Cable Assembly Technician – Defense Systems Electronic Manufacturing Facility. The technician will support a range of programs from commercial to DoD customers, building cables according to engineering drawings and work instructions, performing cable construction, testing, troubleshooting, and repair.

Primary Responsibilities

• Build, troubleshoot, and repair cable assemblies.
• Work with tools used for cable manufacturing (strippers, crimpers, solder iron).
• Interpret engineer drawings, electrical schematics, and technical specifications.
• Collaborate with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and other technicians to develop strategies and identify potential assembly issues.
• Perform basic troubleshooting to locate faults in signal and connectivity.

Basic Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with 2‑4 years of cable building and/or electrical/mechanical assembly experience.
• Working knowledge of specialized tools and equipment used during cable assembly.
• U.S. citizen with Final Secret Clearance or eligibility to obtain a Secret Clearance.
• Experience level will be matched to candidate’s experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current or prior certification in IPC/WHMA‑A‑620 with Space addendum.
• Current or prior certification in J‑STD‑001.
• Ability to test cable assemblies for continuity, isolation, insulation resistance, and insertion loss.
