Job summary

Leidos Inc. Defense Systems Electronic Manufacturing Facility seeks a Cable Assembly Technician to join our team in Huntsville, AL. You will build cables per engineering drawings and work instructions, performing basic testing and troubleshooting on assemblies used for DoD and commercial programs.

You will interpret schematics, collaborate with engineers, and ensure quality through careful assembly and testing processes. This role requires U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a Secret Clearance.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or GED with 2–4 years of cable building/assembly experience.
  • US citizen and eligible for Secret Clearance.
  • Experience with cable assembly tools and interpreting drawings.
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 (Space addendum) or J-STD-001 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build, troubleshoot, and repair cable assemblies.
  • Use strippers, crimpers, and solder irons for cable manufacturing.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and technical specs.
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineers to identify assembly issues.

Job description

Leidos' Defense Systems Electronic Manufacturing Facility is seeking a Cable Assembly Technician to join our team at our Electronics Manufacturing Facility. The successful candidate will support different programs ranging from commercial customers to DoD customers.

The technician will be responsible for building cables in accordance with engineering drawings and work instructions. Responsibilities include cable construction, basic testing, troubleshooting, and repair.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Build, troubleshoot, and repair cable assemblies.
  • Use tools such as strippers, crimpers, and solder irons for cable manufacturing.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and other technicians to develop strategies and identify potential assembly issues.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting to identify faults in signal and connectivity.
Basic Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED with 2-4 years of cable building and/or electrical/mechanical assembly experience.
  • Working knowledge of specialized tools and equipment used during cable assembly.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and possess or be eligible to obtain a Secret Clearance, or have a Final Secret Clearance.
  • This posting is for multiple opportunities ranging in years of experience. The level of opportunity, including compensation, will be matched to a candidate's experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current or prior certification in IPC/WHMA-A-620 with Space addendum.
  • Current or prior certification in J-STD-001.
  • Ability to test cable assemblies for continuity, isolation, insulation resistance, and insertion loss.
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $48,100.00 - $86,950.00.
