Job summary

Security Services Northwest, Inc. in San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking a part-time security officer to deter theft and protect people and property. You will monitor activities, control access, escort visitors, and complete daily activity and incident reports per department procedures.

Requirements include a California BSIS Armed Security Guard license, reliable transportation, and the ability to work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. EMT background is a plus.

Qualifications

• Current California BSIS Armed Security Guard license is required.
• EMT background is a plus.
• Smartphone access to scheduling, clocking in/out and reporting apps.
• Reliable transportation is required.
• Honesty and integrity essential.
• Able to work swings, graveyard, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to react appropriately in high-stress situations.

Responsibilities

• Act as a visual deterrent to prevent theft, embezzlement, sabotage, fire, and accidents.
• Monitor activities and access control.
• Provide safety escorts and assist customers, employees and visitors.
• Complete Daily Activity Reports (DAR) and Incident Reports.
• Work with local law enforcement and emergency services.
• Represent SSNW’s brand and wear issued uniform.
• Other duties as described in Post Orders.

Responsibilities/Duties:

• Act as a visual deterrent to prevent theft, embezzlement, sabotage, fire, and accidents
• Monitor activities
• Access Control
• Safety escorts
• Using provided communication devices
• Represent SSNW’s brand
• Properly wear the issued uniform
• Complete Daily Activity Reports (DAR)
• Complete Incident Reports
• Work with local law enforcement, and emergency services
• Provide friendly assistance to customers, employees and visitors following the department's procedures.
• Other duties as described in the Post Orders

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Current California State Armed Security Guard License (BSIS)
• EMT Background is a plus
• Smart phone to access the apps we use for scheduling, clocking in/out, and reporting.
• Reliable transportation
• Honesty and Integrity
• Able to work non-traditional hours including swings, graveyard, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to react appropriately in high stress situations

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 10 years prior Public Safety and/or Corrections experience preferred
• Reserve police officers encouraged to apply
• Valid drivers license with insurable record
• Knowledge of security protocols, and equipment

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to conduct regular walking foot patrols
• Able to stand 8-12 hours a day
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times (occasionally)
