Job description

Working Title: CA-7 Cross-Platform Analyst

Job Class: Information Technology Specialist 2

Agency: Minnesota IT Services

Location: St. Paul, MN (Telework Eligible)

Salary Range: $28.18 - $45.82 hourly; $58,839 - $95,672 annually

Responsibilities

In this role, you will help ensure reliable, efficient batch processing that supports critical state agency operations. Your duties include monitoring and maintaining batch schedules across mainframe and distributed systems, troubleshooting and resolving processing issues, collaborating with technical staff and agency partners to support daily production needs, developing and updating job flows, documenting procedures, maintaining system accuracy, and supporting disaster recovery activities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • At least two (2) years of IT-related experience in batch scheduling, production control operations, or mainframe/distributed system job processing.
  • Experience with CA-7 scheduling: monitoring, updating, modifying, and troubleshooting batch job streams.
  • Knowledge of IBM JCL and ability to interpret, update, and validate batch job instructions.
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving batch job failures (abends), including job restarts and incident ticket creation.
  • Experience supporting Application Manager (APPWORX) or similar distributed scheduling tools.
  • Experience developing or maintaining batch job flows, dependencies, and documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Customer-focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution-oriented problem solving.
  • Education: a master's degree counts as 18 months, a bachelor's as 1 year, an associate's as 6 months.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a mainframe production environment.
  • Experience using TSO/ISPF to review, troubleshoot, or support mainframe processing activities.
  • Experience providing technical guidance or training to team members in production control, batch scheduling tools, or related processes.
  • Experience participating in or supporting disaster recovery exercises.
  • Experience using or supporting distributed scheduling tools such as Application Manager (APPWORX).
