Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Component Design Engineer for Large Engines to design and validate core engine components (heads, blocks, housings) in a global team. You will contribute to diesel, natural gas, and alternative fuel engine programs, applying NPI processes and supplier collaboration to meet program requirements.

Ideal candidates have heavy-duty engine design experience, strong problem-solving skills, and proficiency with 3D CAD tools.

Qualifications

• Analytical thinking to identify root causes and provide solutions.
• Strong written and verbal communication to convey technical concepts clearly.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet project timelines.
• Knowledge of engineering design fundamentals and manufacturing considerations.
• Familiarity with CAT engineering systems and APQP/CPPD processes.

Responsibilities

• Design core engine components for heads, blocks and housings in a global team.
• Evaluate product designs for reliability, durability, and cost targets; support NPI, CPI and NSI programs.
• Lead supplier collaboration and CPPD activities; communicate results to teams and customers.
• Apply FMEAs and validation plans; manage projects to cost and schedule.
