Job summary

ATSC IES INC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and integrate Counter-UAS hardware, focusing on ruggedized systems, thermal management, and precision mechanics. You will prototype, analyze, and validate components for mobile and fixed platforms, working with RF, electrical, and systems teams.

Responsibilities include creating CAD models, conducting analyses, supervising fabrication and testing, and ensuring manufacturability while meeting cost targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in mechanical design, preferably defense/aerospace/robotics.
• Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks/Creo/CATIA).
• Strong understanding of materials and manufacturing processes.
• Experience designing ruggedized hardware for outdoor or military environments.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD requirements (e.g., MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461).
• Ability to perform engineering analyses (FEA, thermal, vibration).
• Strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and assemblies for C-UAS platforms, including sensor housings and deployable structures.
• Perform structural, thermal, and vibration analyses for demanding environments.
• Support integration of radar, RF, EO/IR, and countermeasure systems into platforms.
• Develop CAD models, drawings, and documentation ( SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA ).
• Conduct tolerance stack-up analyses and ensure manufacturability (DFM/DFA).
• Collaborate with electrical, RF, embedded systems, and systems engineering teams.
• Oversee prototype fabrication, testing, and field support; troubleshoot issues.
• Manage environmental considerations (IP ratings, EMI shielding, thermal dissipation).
• Travel to test ranges or customer sites as required.
• Interface with vendors to meet quality and cost targets.
