Job summary

Rockwell Automation in Milwaukee is seeking a Software Engineer to contribute to FactoryTalk Optix visualization software, designed to run on Windows and Linux targets from Optix Runtime tools to industrial PCs. You will participate in feature development, testing, and documentation, work in an Agile/SCRUM/SAFe environment, and grow skills with mentorship from experienced engineers.

The role emphasizes collaboration across local and global teams, code reviews, and practical industrial control

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a technical field
• 2 years of relevant technical experience preferred
• Experience with software product development environments is beneficial
• Proficiency in C++, C#, or TypeScript
• Familiarity with Qt, .NET, React frameworks
• Experience with container infrastructure (Kubernetes, Docker)
• Experience with MariaDB databases and query optimization
• Experience using AI models for design, debugging and implementation
• Experience with GitHub Actions, Visual Studio and VS Code
• Familiarity with Linux/WSL

Responsibilities

• Contribute to feature requirements and documentation for software development
• Implement software features and enhancements based on designs
• Document code and technical decisions for maintainability
• Develop and execute unit tests and debug issues with guidance
• Participate in reviews of designs, code, test cases and docs
• Plan, develop and execute test cases and automated tests
• Verify test cases align with software requirements
• Perform product testing, document results, and follow up on issues
• Investigate origin and cause of software anomalies with the team
• Suggest improvements to development practices and tooling
• Learn and apply relevant technologies and standards
• Communicate technical concepts clearly in writing and verbally
• Develop familiarity with industrial control system concepts and FactoryTalk Optix
