Job summary

HOM Furniture in Minnesota is seeking a Buyers Assistant to support the Buyer with admin tasks, sku management, and order placement. You’ll contribute to posting announcements, assist with basic copywriting, and help keep timelines on track.

In this full-time role, you’ll participate in brainstorming with the Purchasing team, respond to vendor inquiries when needed, and take on special projects with limited supervision. Competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three years merchandising experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to sit for long periods and lift up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Support the Buyer with administrative tasks, including SKU management and order placement.
• Lead small projects with limited supervision and maintain timelines.
• Assist Purchasing by brainstorming and presenting ideas to vendors.
• Respond to inquiries in the buyer's best interest when the Buyer is out of the office.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

• The Buyers Assistant supports the Buyer by taking on administrative tasks such as sku management, placing orders, posting company announcements, and basic copywriting.
• When needed, the Buyers Assistant will take charge of projects with limited supervision from the Buyer including conducting follow-up and maintaining timelines.
• The Buyers Assistant will assist the Purchasing department by participating in brainstorming events and presenting their ideas and making recommendations.
• When the Buyer is out of the office, the Buyers Assistant will respond to inquiries in the best interest of the Buyer including fielding questions and making fair negotiations with vendors.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education: Must have a high school diploma or GED.

Experience: Three years experience in a merchandising role preferred.

Physical Demands: Low physical demands required. The employee is regularly required to sit for sustained periods of time and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

Other: Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
