Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Commit to a delivery date for each customer order received and processed.
  • Interface daily with customer service to ensure orders meet customer delivery expectations.
  • Quote lead-times on all products to the Customer Service team.
  • Procure supplies, materials, and equipment necessary for organizational operations.
  • Check requisitions, contact vendors, and examine bids and contracts.
  • Develop project and production schedules based on engineering plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate with departments such as Production, Engineering, Shipping, and Accounting to resolve supply, quality, or logistics issues.
  • Address supplier problems related to over shipments, shortages, obsolete materials, invoice issues, rework, or scraps.
  • Review open purchase orders and follow up with suppliers as needed.
  • Prepare RFQs and obtain competitive bids to ensure the best total cost of ownership.
  • Expedite items and supplies to meet company demands.
  • Monitor and ensure delivery and inventory performance objectives are met or exceeded.
  • Achieve targets for cost-saving initiatives.
  • Coordinate with the Production department to execute the revenue plan.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards within the functional area.

Personal Attributes: The ideal candidate will be proactive, work with urgency, and approach challenges positively. They should manage supplier issues effectively by adjusting communication styles, be assertive, and follow through on projects to completion.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business management, engineering, or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience in supply chain, production planning, or procurement.
  • Background in industrial manufacturing, particularly high mix/low volume production.
  • Experience managing overseas suppliers for fabricated, machined, or cast metal products.
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification is a plus.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong analytical and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and database management.
  • Excellent organizational skills to handle shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Negotiation skills and ability to build relationships internally and externally.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Passion for delivering excellent customer experiences.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit, use hands, talk, and hear regularly; stand and walk occasionally; lift/move up to 25 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities include close vision and focus adjustment. Able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Skills: Ability to read, write, and present information effectively in various formats.

Mathematical Skills: Capable of basic arithmetic, ratios, and percentages.

Reasoning Ability: Able to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions and schedules.
