Job summary

Nucor Rebar Fabrication in Lexington, NC is seeking a Buyer to manage purchasing of materials, services, and vendor relationships to support manufacturing operations.

You will process requisitions and POs, negotiate terms, identify cost-saving opportunities, maintain supplier files, and coordinate with departments on savings and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business-related field required.
• 3 years purchasing/supply chain experience in manufacturing.
• Proficiency in data analysis and Excel.

Basic Job Functions

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

The Buyer is responsible for Nucor’s purchasing of materials, products, and services.

• Process requisitions/purchase orders
• Negotiate and enforce Nucor’s commercial and legal contract terms and conditions
• Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors/contractors
• Contribute to Nucor enterprise-wide and NRF regional purchasing efforts
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction
• Maintain supplier compliance files
• Coordinate with operating departments on cost savings and improved processes
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Minimum Qualifications

• 3 years Purchasing, Accounting or Supply Chain experience in a manufacturing environment or a Bachelor’s degree in a Business-related field.
• Demonstrated experience analyzing data, generating reports, and making data-driven decisions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic data analysis).

Preferred Qualifications

• Construction or manufacturing industry experience.
• Demonstrated experience with ERP/MRP Systems (Navision, Oracle, SAP, etc.)
• Experience in the following disciplines: business law, contract management, internal controls, inventory management, negotiations, procurement, risk management, accounting, or warehouse.
