Job summary

Nucor in Lexington, NC is seeking a Buyer to lead purchasing of materials, manage requisitions, and negotiate favorable terms with suppliers to support efficient production. The role emphasizes data-driven decisions, cost control, and strong supplier relations while supporting NRF regional purchasing efforts.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in Purchasing or Supply Chain in manufacturing, solid data analysis skills, and proficient Excel capabilities.

Qualifications

• 3 years Purchasing, Accounting or Supply Chain experience in a manufacturing environment or a Bachelor's degree in a Business-related field.
• Demonstrated experience analyzing data, generating reports, and making data-driven decisions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic data analysis).

Responsibilities

• The Buyer is responsible for Nucor's purchasing of materials, products, and services.
• Process requisitions/purchase orders
• Negotiate and enforce Nucor's commercial and legal contract terms and conditions
• Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors/contractors
• Contribute to Nucor enterprise-wide and NRF regional purchasing efforts
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction
• Maintain supplier compliance files
• Coordinate with operating departments on cost savings and improved processes
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

• Experience in the following disciplines: business law, contract management, internal controls, inventory management, negotiations, procurement, risk management, accounting, or warehouse.
