Job summary

Nucor, North America\'s largest steel and steel products manufacturer, seeks a senior plant operations leader for the Metal Recycling Services division. You will oversee safety, production scheduling, and daily operations, guiding the metal recovery team and coordinating with customers.

This role requires at least a high school diploma or GED and a bachelor\'s in business/engineering, or 3+ years of manufacturing management experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in business/engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of management experience in heavy industrial or manufacturing.
• Experience in safety-focused environment.
• Experience with heavy equipment operations.
• Experience in scrap processing.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in plant safety and operations on a day-to-day basis.
• Effectively lead the metal recovery team.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with customers.
• Establish production work schedules.
• Provide leadership in people development activities such as hiring, training, developing and coaching staff.
• Serve as a role model; support and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental policies and practices.
• Support manager in long-range planning and budgeting.
• Work closely with commercial team to keep them informed when nonferrous commodities need to be sold.
• Conduct monthly inventory.
• Hands on leadership approach in working with teammates.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

SHIFT TIME: 4:00pm-2:00am

Preferences:

• Knowledge of inventory management, shipping and receiving material using lean manufacturing principles is a plus
• Proven ability to communicate with all levels of customers and internal contacts
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Skilled and experienced with personal computers, software, spreadsheets and databases (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Ability to plan, manage and prioritize work; adapt to a changing environment; strong organized approach to work
• Demonstrated skill in initiating and managing projects; building and leading a project team
