Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking an Entry-level Buyer I for its Supply Chain department in Birmingham, AL. The role supports the procurement of goods and services, interacts with vendors, and participates in contracting and value analysis to meet service levels.

Under general supervision, you will review requisitions, process orders, resolve pricing and delivery issues, coordinate with AP, and provide customer service to internal departments while seeking process improvements to increase efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education/experience required.
• Purchasing experience in healthcare is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review, process, and approve requisitions and payment requests per policies.
• Ensure orders are processed and acknowledged by vendors using system tools.
• Communicate pricing discrepancies, back orders, and product discontinuations.
• Verify order delivery and coordinate with end users and MM Department.
• Coordinate with AP to resolve vendor matches and duplicates.
• Act as a Customer Service representative for end users (phone/email).
• Suggest process improvements to increase departmental productivity.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Under general supervision, to perform purchasing functions and any other activities related to the
procurement of goods and services for any UAB Health System entity and participate in the contracting
and value analysis process. To interact with vendors and departments to ensure all policies and
procedures are adhered to and service levels are met and/or exceeded.

• Reviews, processes, and/or approves requisitions and payment requests to ensure
  compliance with organizational policies and regulatory laws.


• Ensure all orders are processed and acknowledged by the vendor utilizing system tools and
  otherresources. (Identify and resolve any issues with order placement or confirmation.)


• Communicates with the appropriate party(s) and/or resolve issues related to pricing
  discrepancies, back orders, and product discontinuations.


• Verifies order delivery, utilizing system tools and other resources. (Coordinate with the end
  user and MM Department.)


• Coordinates with the AP Department to resolve any issues such as vendor matches,
  duplicateshipments, etc.


• Functions as Customer Service Representative (end user requests/answering the


• telephone/responding to emails/etc.)


• Utilizes problem solving skills and suggests process improvements and operational
  efficiencies toincrease departmental productivity.


• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Management or Procurement required Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
