Job summary

Modern Industries in Tempe, AZ seeks a detail‑oriented Purchasing Specialist to interpret demand signals and translate them into financially sound procurement decisions. You will collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Finance and Operations to ensure timely fulfillment of material and service needs.

Responsibilities include supplier relationship management, maintaining records, and applying knowledge of purchasing policies, inventory control, and planning to meet budget and schedule constraints.

Qualifications

• Must have minimal knowledge of commonly used purchasing policies, processes and procedures.
• Must have minimal knowledge of warehouse and inventory control policies and procedures.
• Must have minimal knowledge of material work planning and methods engineering processes and procedures.
• Has minimal knowledge and ability to negotiate best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements.

Job description

• Coordinates with other functions (including Quality, Engineering, Finance, Operations etc.) to ensure timely fulfillment of material and service requirements in support of the business.
• Works actively to identify, engage, and manage relationships with suppliers capable of meeting the business requirements relative to Cost, Delivery, Service, and Quality.
• Maintains records and systems consistent with professional approach to purchasing activities.
• Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience :

• Minimum High School diploma or equivalent, bachelor's degree a plus
• 0-3 years purchasing related experience or have demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above-mentioned tasks.
